How to Use Your Easi-Breathe Inhaler

The Easi-Breathe inhaler is a type of breath-activated device — this means it releases a dose of medicine automatically when you breathe in through the mouthpiece. It’s designed to be easier for some children and young people to use, especially if timing a puff and breath together is difficult.

To get the full benefit from your medicine, it’s important to follow these steps carefully.

Step-by-Step Guide

Easi Beathe Inhaler
  1. Shake the inhaler well
This helps ensure the medicine is properly mixed
  2. Hold upright and open the cap
Keep the inhaler upright at all times and fully open the cap
Don’t cover the small air vent near the top of the device
  3. Breathe out fully (away from the device)
This prepares the lungs to take in a deep breath.
  4. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth
Make sure your lips form a good seal.
  5. Take a long, strong breath in
As you breathe in deeply and steadily, the device will automatically release a puff of medication. Keep breathing in when this happens — don’t stop early.
  6. Hold your breath
Remove the inhaler and hold your breath for up to 10 seconds.
  7. Close the cap
The cap must be closed properly before it can be used again.
  8. Wait 30 seconds, then repeat

Repeat these steps for each prescribed puff (dose).

Not Sure It’s Working Correctly?

It can be difficult to know whether you’ve taken the full dose properly — especially if you don’t hear or feel the release. If you’re unsure, it’s best to have your technique checked by a specialist.

Professor Atul Gupta and his team can:

  • Confirm if the Easi-Breathe inhaler is suitable for your child
  • Check inhaler technique and breathing coordination
  • Adjust or change devices if needed
  • Provide a clear, personalised asthma action plan
